The Cedar tree also known as the Juniper tree is native to Texas. There are many different classes of junipers. This tree is a fast growing tree that can become easily overpopulated if not controlled on a yearly basis. The cedar tree is commonly used as posts or staves for fences; due to the hardiness of the tree. The dark or light red cedar, I use in my furniture is from an Eastern Red Cedar. It is a diverse species that is found from as far as Canada down to the southern U.S.
