Cedar coffee table under construction

Well I started off building a shadow box coffee table for Texans to put together their own Texas style collage. I now have a new idea; merging the red cedar with a granite tile. The top will have an outside frame (1x6) cedar boards surrounding the granite tile in the center. The legs will be 4x4 red cedar posts, so the only color transitions will be between the tile and the cedar. In the first table the color transition is between the legs and the main body of the table.
I thought I would get a little creative and etch a unique scene of wildlife in the granite to give it a Texas twist. The problem I am running into is figuring out which method to use when etching the scene into the granite with fine detail, giving it a nice clean crisp look.
After a little research, and talking to some local friends; I think the best way to go is to have a template cut out of a sticky vinyl. The next step would be to place the vinyl template over the surface area of the granite and then sand blast over the vinyl. After sand blasting and removing the vinyl, there should be a nice clean crisp wildlife scene.
Below is a picture of what I have put together so far. After I finish up with my finals this spring semester, I plan to finish this project and will post a picture of the finished product. For all you other craftsman, I will let yawl know how the process turned out.

Howdy!

Well, I'm finally online and here we go! This site is still in development so stay tuned often for updates, photos, and music.

I have been designing and building custom furniture, BBQ pits, and rustic metal art since 2005. Every piece is custom designed and also crafted to personal recommendations. If you want the rustic look, then red cedar furniture is the way to go, with several different designs from coffee tables to end tables. You can bring out the rustic look that will impress any guests invited over for dinner or just to come and hang out. For all you hunters looking for the perfect gun cabinet; I have designed a 12-gun cabinet that will impress any fellow hunter. If you are into cooking or grilling outside, I have designed many Texas Style pits that can fit your personal style of cooking. For all you campers and tail-gate junkies, I have the ultimate BBQ pit design that is easy to load up and go and will last forever. Looking for rustic art or accessories for the house? I have many styles just for you and if you are looking for something in particular I can build it, and I’ll build it Texan.
